Daniel 3:1-30 (Fiery Furnace) "Checkpoint Omega"
Daniel 3:1-30 (Fiery Furnace) "Checkpoint Omega"
Checkpoint Omega
by Jonathan Bing
The story of Nebuchadnezzer’s fiery furnace is so well known that it seems obvious that Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego will survive. The truth is that they did not know what would happen—they only knew they would be delivered, in life or in death. Their certainty was in a reliance on God.
This play makes this challenge of life-or-death, faith-or-consequences real and present; so we can understand the allure of putting one’s faith in something other than God.
In this scenario, Chad, Misha and Abe are working in a distant country to bring refugees to safety. At the point we meet them, they are at Checkpoint Omega seeking to cross the land of a warlord named Neb.
Themes: Faith, God's Faithfulness, Courage
