Psalm Series Skits & Plays for Church (Works Great for Lent)
Ever Need a Series to Work for Both Youth AND Lent? This is the one! Works as a cross-generational device too.
Psalm Skit Series
by Elise Seyfried
These skits go wonderfully as stand-alone skits, lenten devotional and/or fill-ins for sermons, and even as Sunday school (late) or youth group activities.
Contained within this bundled package are the following theatrical productions:
THE GAME OF LIFE
Three unlikely players assemble for The Game of Life, led by Chrissy the Cheerleader. One is gloomy, one is distracted, one is happy. They learn that the only rule is to live their best lives. The point of the game is to find God’s many blessings in their lives and give thanks.
DAVID: THE TEEN YEARS
Moody teen David is neglecting his shepherd duties and writing a psalm instead. He thinks his family doesn’t understand him, and his pours his dramatic feelings into the psalm. God reminds David that he needs to love and honor his family and that God will be with him always, even when times really are tough.
TOP SHEPHERD
In the spirit of TV’s “Top Chef,” five shepherds with different talents (yoga teacher, architect, bodyguard, chef, and innkeeper) compete to be named “Top Shepherd” by judge, Lara Lamb. She cannot decide because she needs all of their talents. Finally, the Lord arrives; the Lord has every talent needed, and so becomes “Top Shepherd.”
ALL BETTER!
A doctor, symbolizing God, sees several patients. One thinks he’s sick but isn’t, one doesn’t admit she’s sick but is. The third patient knows she is sick and comes to the doctor for healing.
TOTAL PRAISE
The Anytown Symphony is practicing a new work written to praise God. The instruments fight over who has the biggest part. Finally, the composer rewrites the work so that everyone can contribute equally to the music.
Suitable for Teen or Adult performers. (Late SS could work, too.)
